Mid-Career Scholar Award

Nominations Deadline: January 15th, 2026

The Health and Medical Geography Specialty Group (HMGSG) of the AAG is accepting nominations for the Mid-Career Scholar Award in Health and Medical Geography.

The award seeks to recognize mid-career scholars who have made significant contributions in health and/or medical geography as well as disseminating knowledge and service to the wider community. Mid-career scholars should be between approximately 8-20 cumulative years after their doctoral degrees at the time of the AAG 2026 annual conference, and be esteemed for their high levels of professional and personal integrity.

If you are interested in nominating a person for this award, please submit a nomination letter describing the nominee’s potential for distinguished scholarship and promise for impacting the future development of health and/or medical geography, and a copy of the nominee’s CV, preferably in PDF format, to Dr. Sadie J. Ryan (sjryan@ufl.edu) by January 15th, 2026. Nominations will be evaluated by the HMGSG board and an external reviewer. Nominees do not have to be members of HMGSG.
