HMGSG Melinda S. Meade Student Travel Awards

 The Health and Medical Geography Specialty Group (HMGSG) of the American Association of Geographers is offering the Melinda S. Meade Student Travel Award for the AAG Annual Meeting, April 16th – 20th, 2024 in Honolulu, Hawai’i.

This award provides financial support for graduate and undergraduate students who plan to present on a health/medical geography topic at the conference during a session sponsored by the Health and Medical Geography Specialty Group.

To be considered for the award, please complete the following form no later than November 15th, 2023. You will need:

     Responses to the following prompts: 

o   How the award would be of assistance

o   Other travel funding available to you

o   Your goals in attending the AAG conference 

·       The abstract of the paper you will be presenting at the conference.

·       Your Curriculum Vitae, which should include your name, affiliation, email address, and (physical) mailing address

·       A copy of your conference registration (e.g., acceptance note from AAG and PIN number) 

The number and amount of the awards will be determined by the number of submissions and the amount of travel costs not covered by the home institution. The HMGSG board will determine the winner(s) based on the quality of the abstract, financial need, and record of past scholarship. We intend to notify awardees by December 1st, 2023.
