Profile: Xiang “Peter” Chen

Xiang Chen is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Emergency Management, Arkansas Tech University, USA. His research interests are focused on modeling urban food access using innovative geospatial techniques, including geovisualization, social media, and space-time analysis. His other research interest is emergency preparedness for natural disasters and terrorist attacks by assessing vulnerability of urban transport infrastructure and by deriving optimal placement of shelters.

Xiang Chen received his PhD in geography from the Ohio State University. He was the recipient of the 2015 Jacques May Thesis Prize from the AAG Health and Medical Geography Specialty Group.
